5 of the best TV beds 2020 and 2021
A TV bed is a neat way to watch telly in bed without having cables trailing around. The poshest TV beds are hidden away most of the time and then lift up remotely when you press a button. Cheaper TV beds require you to actually get out of bed to move it up and down manually (whatever next!)
Some TV beds come with TVs included, whilst others allow you to use your own TV. If you’re as fussy as me about TVs you will probably prefer to pick your own set separately.
You can usually store things like PVRs (that's a Personal Video Recorder for my mother's benefit), DVD players and games consoles in storage sections under the bed as well.
We’ve picked out five of the best TV beds on sale in the UK by comparing things like specification, value for money and customer reviews. Prices are for double mattresses, not including mattresses. Prices are correct at the time of writing.

1. Dreams Seoul Upholstered TV Bed - £1099 (32 inch TV included)
**Dreams Sale: Save £100 on the Dreams Seoul TV Bed**
This Dreams TV bed isn't the cheapest and it's only available in one colour, but it has a lot going for it and it gets terrific reviews from customers (4.8/5 as I write this).
For a start, you get a 32 inch TV included with this one which is probably worth a couple of hundred pounds. You can then pick from various upgrades, including turning it into an ottoman bed, meaning that it lifts up at the side to reveal a huge amount of extra storage space under the bed. Amongst the storage space is a place for keeping DVD players and PVRs hidden away. Alternatively, you can have it as an adjustable bed which lifts your head up for extra comfortable TV viewing (that does mean you don't get the ottoman storage though). If you go for the adjustable bed option, keep in mind that only certain mattresses are bendy enough for an adjustable base. Whichever version you choose, the TV magically lifts up when you press a button from bed. Well, it isn't magic, it's just some clever electronics but I'm easily impressed. Unfortunately, it only comes with a one year guarantee. |
2. Argos Gemini TV Bed - £499 (TV not included)
This cheap TV bed from Argos has the name Hygena on the manual but it's listed under the Argos Home range. It doesn't have the flashy features of some of the others on this list, but it's reasonably priced and has outstanding customer reviews (4.9/5 when we checked).
The main downsides are that a) you don't get a TV with it and b) it only has a manual TV lifting mechanism. So, if your dream is to lie in bed and press a button to make the TV appear then this isn't for you. However, if you plan to keep the TV in view the whole time and already have a 32 inch TV lying around then it's ideal. For this price, the only colour option is black but there are more expensive ones in the Argos range in other neutral colours. It comes with a 1 year guarantee and has a compartment underneath for your Betamax player or your Laserdisc player. |
3. Bensons for Beds Fremont/Malaga Tv Bed - £1099 (32 inch TV includeD)
Bensons for Beds offer TV beds in grey designs called Malaga and Fremont. They're both similar in specification with the choice to upgrade to an ottoman TV bed with storage or to a fancier TV.
Personally, I like the Fremont design so I've picked out that one but you might prefer the colour of the Malaga model. These TV beds are available in double or king size and whilst there haven't been many reviews yet, the handful available are very positive. The 32 inch TV is included in the price, so I reckon this must be one of the best value TV beds on the market. The TV lifts and lowers remotely with a 'whisper-quiet TV lift mechanism' according to the blurb. On the downside, it only comes with a one year guarantee although that seems to be quite common on most TV beds. As an aside, if you're looking for a single TV bed you'll find there aren't many on the market in the UK. We found a couple at this TV Bed website or you can buy a small double TV bed from Bensons for Beds. A small double bed is 4 foot wide whilst a single bed is 3 foot wide, so you'll need an extra 30cm of space. |
4. Bensons for Beds Legend TV Bed - £1899 (40 inch TV included)
If you can stretch the budget, take a look at this Legend TV Bed.
For your money you get a bigger screen than most TV beds (40 inch instead of 32 inch) and you get built in speakers so you can wake the neighbours from the comfort of your own bed. There are a couple of colours to choose from (light and dark grey, so not terribly exciting) and unusually it comes in double, kingsize and super king size. Double TV beds and king size TV beds are common, but super king size TV beds are less easy to find. There aren't many reviews available but the few I've found were very good. Another improvement over most of the TV beds in our top 5 is that this one comes with a 2 year guarantee rather than 1 year. |
5. Dreams Tokyo TV Bed with surround sound - £1999 (43 inch TV included)
**Dreams Sale: save up to £100 on the Tokyo TV Bed**
Finally, another posh TV bed from Dreams which comes in an upholstered fabric material or as faux leather.
The Tokyo model has a bigger TV than any other TV bed we've found (43 inch) and it has speakers at the top and bottom of the bed. The TV lifts up and down with a remote control, although I don't think I'd ever get out of bed if I had this setup. You can buy the Tokyo TV bed in double, king size or super king size and there are some upgrades if you can persuade your spouse that they're really necessary. Firstly, you can choose to have it as an ottoman bed, which gives a lot of extra storage space underneath. You can also upgrade the telly to a 4K one. It's got sprung slats, which gives a slightly softer feel than solid slats. |
