Simba Hybrid Pro Mattress UK review and discount codes - 2020 and 2021
**Simba Sale: 30% off £300+ until 28/02/21 + free delivery + 200 night trial**
Simba make two main mattresses for adults and a mattress for children. If you're looking for advice on the 'standard' Simba Hybrid Mattress, then we've got a separate guide for that.
However, if you're wondering whether the posher Simba Hybrid Pro Mattress (£1119) is worth the money then please read on. Prices mentioned are for double mattresses and are correct at the time of typing. |
What's the difference between the Simba Hybrid and the Simba Hybrid Pro mattress?
At the time of writing a double size 'Pro' version of the Simba mattress costs about £300 more than the 'standard' Simba mattress.
So, what are you getting for the extra money? Well, the Hybrid Pro is a very similar mattress but it is 3cm deeper than the Simba Hybrid because they've added a couple of luxurious layers, including:
The outer cover on the Simba Hybrid Pro is also made from a slightly heavier weight material, which is described as being 'super soft'. The rest of the mattress is very similar, which is unsurprising as the original Simba Hybrid has won lots of awards and gets positive reviews. So, the Simba Hybrid Pro is a bit like adding on some extras when you buy a new car - the engine and chassis are still the same but the Pro version has got heated seats, a DAB radio and an extra cup holder. |
What reviews do customers give The Simba Hybrid Pro Mattress?
- On Simba Sleep's website, the Simba Hybrid Pro is scoring 4.8/5 from nearly 60,000 reviews, at the time of writing (2021). However, it's worth noting that this score relates to both mattresses, as the same score shows on the Simba Hybrid page. It's certainly an impressive rating, but my hunch is that the majority of reviews relate to the Simba Hybrid as it has been on sale for longer.
- On Amazon, the Simba Hybrid Pro scores 4.3/5 from 600+ reviews. Again though, this score relates to both versions of the Simba mattress rather than just the Simba Hybrid Pro.
Meanwhile, TrustPilot reviewers give the Simba Sleep brand a score of 4.5/5 after many thousand reviews. This score relates to everything that Simba Sleep sell, which also includes some bedding and a pillow.
For our own curiosity, we searched for scores of all the mattress brands we could find in TrustPilot in January 2021 to see how the big name brands compare:
- Ergoflex - 4.7/5
- Brook + Wilde - 4.6/5
- Dormeo - 4.6/5
- Dunlopillo - 4.6/5
- Emma Mattress - 4.6/5
- REM-Fit - 4.6/5
- OTTY - 4.5/5
- Eve Sleep - 4.5/5
- Simba Sleep - 4.5/5
- Nectar Sleep - 4.3/5
- Casper - 4.3/5
- Sleepeezee - 4.2/5
- DreamCloud - 4.2/5
- Silentnight 4.2/5
- Tempur - 3.7/5
- Mammoth - 3.2/5
- Sealy - 3.2/5
- Happy Beds - 3.2/5
- Harrison Spinks (manufacturers of the John Lewis & Partners Natural Collection, Somnus and Herdy Sleep) - 3/5
- Hypnos Beds - 2.9/5
We searched for the TrustScore. We couldn't find some big brands such as Vispring and Rest Assured. The number of reviews varied significantly but most had several hundred or several thousand reviews.
What type of mattress is the Simba Hybrid Pro Mattress?
You've probably seen a whole heap of confusing jargon in your search for a new mattress.
'Hybrid' usually means that it's a mattress which combines springs with foam, which are the two main ways of offering support in a mattress. Once upon a time, pretty much all mattresses were made from springs and most people still sleep on a pocket sprung mattress. Memory foam came along as an alternative. Fans of memory foam find that it offers more consistent support whilst some people find it makes them a bit warm or they just don't like the slight hugging feeling. Hybrid mattresses aim to offer the benefits of both springs and foam. As mentioned earlier, the springs on the Simba Sleep Hybrid Pro mattress are notably smaller than normal pocket spring mattresses. They are 2.5cm tall each whereas pocket springs are usually much larger. As a result, the official blurb says that they offer a 'comfort layer'. The Simba Hybrid Pro mattress is also what's called a 'bed in a box'. The idea is that it arrives in a box which is easy to deliver and get up the stairs. It then expands in your bedroom and is ready a few hours later. |
How firm is the Simba Mattress?
The short answer is that it's medium-firm.
According to Simba Sleep:
Like the Hybrid Mattress, it’s medium-firm in feel, however the dual spring system and wool layer in the Hybrid Pro Mattress provides a slightly softer, plusher, more luxurious feel.
However, there are a couple of caveats.

- Unfortunately, there isn't a mattress-industry-wide agreement on what 'soft' 'medium' or 'firm' means. It's certainly a useful starting point, but it's possible that one mattress brand's 'soft' mattress is the same as another brand's 'medium' firmness mattress. That's one of the reasons why a mattress with a home trial period is particularly appealing if you're shopping online.
- The mattress firmness you need should be guided by your weight/build and by how you sleep. Heavier people need firmer mattresses than lighter people. People who mostly sleep on their front or back need slightly firmer mattresses than people who sleep on their sides.
Which awards has The Simba Hybrid PRo MAttress won?
A lot of the awards handed out to Simba Sleep in recent years have been given to the Simba Hybrid rather than the Simba Hybrid Pro. That's not to say that the Simba Hybrid Pro isn't better, it's just that the Simba Hybrid has been around longer and appears to have been tested more.
Also, it's worth noting that the Simba Hybrid Pro is essentially a posher version of the same mattress and it has a lot of the same layers of foam and other materials.
However, Real Homes did give a 5 star rating and a 'Real Homes Loves' Award specifically to the Simba Hybrid Pro in 2020 and the same mattress also got an 'Ideal Home Approved' award.

What guarantee and home trial period does The Simba Hybrid Pro Mattress offer?
The Simba Hybrid Pro comes with a 10 year guarantee and a 200 night trial, just like the Simba Hybrid. That means that you've got nearly seven months in which you can try it out and then send it back if it's not right for you.
It's certainly true that you can get a good sense of a mattress after a few nights or weeks but there is something to be said for being able to try it out at different times of year. Memory foam behaves differently in different temperatures and some people find that it makes them feel a bit warm in summer.
There are obviously terms and conditions attached to the 200 night trial and 10 year guarantee, but they aren't terribly wordy or complicated with the Simba Hybrid Pro mattress.
As far as I'm aware, the only mattresses in the UK which match or beat Simba's 200 night trial are:
