Sleep Diary Night 26 – The Relocation

Last night was the first night with a relocated mattress. The upstairs in our house gets very warm so I took drastic action and moved a mattress downstairs. The forecast is for temperatures up to 41C, so I felt a bit of drama and moving of furniture was justified.

Darkening the room took some doing. My wife was not best pleased to find a selection of blankets, cardboard and duct tape being used to cover a window which is usually covered by a flimsy blind. It doesn’t look pretty but I had kicked into emergency mode by that point.

I think it was worth it. The new bedroom was certainly a little cooler than the old one and I got to bed pretty quickly. The sound of the fan drowned out the noise of the night time hamster wheel.

Temperatures are rising, so I need to take action

Despite a tiring day, my body didn’t seem very keen to stay asleep. It woke at 4.15am which I think is a consequence of repeated wake ups from child two around that time. It then woke again at 5.20am, for an undetermined reason. Finally, I woke at 6am. There was then a power cut at 6.30am which would have woken me anyway as it set off a lot of beeping and whirring from the printer (one downside of sleeping in an office).

The mattress remained the Casper Memory Foam Mattress and the duvet was still a 1 tog synthetic duvet from M&S.
