Last night was a bit of a funny one. For a change, I was in a different bed because I had to go away for work.
I didn’t arrive at my parent’s house until 1am which was what I had planned but was still a bit of a shock to the system. By 1:10am I was in bed on a pocket sprung bed which I have previously found very comfortable.
However it is quite an old mattress and the temperature was still in the low 20s despite being the middle of the night.
Thankfully I found a fan at the back of cupboard which made the heat more bearable.
I slept ok but woke up around 5:30 in the morning and just couldn’t get back to sleep. This was rather frustrating as I didn’t have the children calling me and could have slept another 3 or 4 hours.
I am not sure whether I should blame the heat or the slightly wobbly mattress which has a couple of indents. Or perhaps my mind was just preoccupied with various things that I’ve got to do for work.
Nonetheless, I am not looking forward to the day ahead on what is supposed to be the hottest day on record in the UK.
In the past, I have greatly enjoyed this mattress and lent towards pocket sprung mattresses when I have been looking to buy them for myself. This one lives at my mother’s house and has been here – I would guess – for 20 years. Nowadays I am a bit more inclined towards a memory foam mattress because you don’t bounce around quite so much.
Anyway, I’m giving last night a 4/10.
Mattress: Unsure on the brand, but I think it may be a Slumberland pocket sprung mattress which is about 20 years old.
Sheets: Duvet cover without a duvet inside. I just had a mattress protector on the bed. Not ideal, but I gave up looking for a sheet after a quick search at 1am.
Pillows: Whatever was available! It was a synthetic pillow but unsure on the brand.
