Sleep Diary Night 33 – Get a grip!

Another self inflicted failure but I feel like I’m getting closer to that 10/10 night.

I ended up replying to messages and playing with my phone until abut 10.30pm. I tell that children that they can’t have any screen time for an hour before bed but I failed to follow my own advice.

Some time ago, I read that screen time before bed is the absolute worst thing you can do. In fact, I sometimes look at my phone in the morning as a means of waking myself up if my body is resisting an alarm.

As a result, whilst I fell asleep, my mind was buzzing with distracting nonsense. Last night’s nonsense was all about house prices, which is never something you should think about at bedtime.

Worried person
Late night phone usage sends me into a bed night’s sleep

I only recall waking once in the night and I was delighted that child two didn’t wake at 4am. Have we really dropped this habit now? Let’s hope so.

She finally called me at 6.40am, or rather she banged on the door and jumped into bed with me. I can’t exactly remember if I was awake at this point or not.

On paper then, it was a good night with a long sleep and no major wakeups. So why do I feel so tired today? Why do I have the sort of headache which usually comes with a bad night’s sleep?

I give last night an 8/10.

Mattress: as usual, it was the Nectar Memory foam mattress
